Braintree is a PayPal service, so there’s a lot of overlap with PayPal features. It lets you accept payments via PayPal, Venmo (US only), Apple Pay, Google Pay, and credit/debit cards.

It’s primarily for processing payments, and it doesn’t include community features and such.
It’s clearly aimed at larger companies who can pay a developer to set it up. Would not be a good option for solo creators, beginners, or folks without strong web dev skills. This is evident from reading the documentation, which is very technical and dev focused.
They don’t offer specific pricing information for PayPal and PayPal Credit; they just say to “Contact PayPal directly or visit the PayPal pricing page for more details.”
As far as I can tell, there are no monthly subscription fees for payment processing. But the company’s general vagueness and “contact sales” attitude isn’t encouraging.
Not super transparent about additional fees for features such as account updater (to update cc details automatically for recurring payments) and fraud protection. Just says to “Contact our sales team”
