I spend a lot of time away from my computer – riding my bike, walking my dog, keeping my house clean, lifting weights.

As is the case for a lot of people, I get more (and better) ideas when I’m up and active than when I’m sitting at my keyboard.

That’s why I’ve spent years perfecting a method for taking notes with my voice. I now have a workflow that:

  1. Lets me record a voice memo on my phone
  2. Automatically uploads the audio to cloud storage
  3. Transcribes the audio to text
  4. Summarizes the text, creating lists of main points, action items, references, and more
  5. Creates a new page in Notion with the transcript, summary, and embedded audio file

This is one of my most useful productivity tools. I use it to “write” new video drafts with my voice, to craft talks that I give on stage at conferences, and to brain-dump ideas I don’t want to lose.

I’ve used it to capture ideas for magic systems I want to incorporate into fiction writing, improvements to our business process, and even song lyrics. It’s an indispensable part of my workflow.

I’ve also made it easy for you to set this workflow up for yourself:
