<aside> ⚠️ You only need to perform this update if you want to automate your recurring tasks using Make.com or Automate.io - or if you want your copy of Ultimate Tasks (or Ultimate Brain, if you’re using that) to be as up-to-date as possible.

Finally - at long last - we have fixed the biggest bug with automated recurring tasks!

Our recent Better Recurring Tasks update included the ability to automate recurring tasks using Make.com and Automate.io - but it had one big problem. Due to limits with the Notion API, tasks completed too late in the day (depending on your time zone) would be updated with incorrect Next Due dates.

This update fixes that.

TL;DR Version

Here’s the super-short explanation of this update:

  1. Add formula property UTC Offest to the All Tasks database **and enter your non-daylight-savings numeric UTC Offset (mine is -**7 here in Denver). You'll have to figure out what this is no matter what - there's no way the template can do it for you. Find your offset here.
    1. Ensure you’re using your standard offset, not a daylight savings offset.
  2. Copy the new Last Day Base Date formula and replace your current one.
  3. Copy the new Next Due formula and replace your current one.
  4. Update your Make.com automation so it runs at 11:55pm.
    1. If you’re using Automate.io, I recommend switching to Make.com. Automate.io announced they are shutting down in October 2022.

Preamble

Folks, we are a sweaty, tired bunch.

This will seem like a pretty small update for you, but it is the single most difficult update we’ve ever made to Ultimate Tasks.

Martin (my developer) spent well over 120 hours on this problem, fighting against the limits of the Notion API and Notion itself.

At one point, Notion spawned dragons that came out of our computer screens, and we had to fight them (and them tame them, and then run on their backs like in the Dragonball Z credits, of course)

Fortunately, this update will be exceptionally easy for you.
