Updating Instructions

We’d suggest opening these instructions in a browser tab and your copy of Ultimate Brain in your desktop Notion app or in a separate tab. This will allow you to easily switch between the two as you copy and paste the new formulas.

Unlocking Databases
In order to update database formulas, each of the relevant databases will need to be unlocked. This can be done by following these steps.
- From your main Ultimate Brain page, navigate to the Archive page found under the Productivity Views heading.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and open the The Brain toggle, then select the database you wish to update. The following databases have formulas that can be updated.
- All Tasks
- Projects
- All Notes
- Goals
- Areas/Resources
- Click on the Locked button to the right of the breadcrumb at the top of the page to unlock the database.
Updating Formulas
Once a database is unlocked, follow these steps to update a formula.
- Click the ellipsis icon ••• to the left of the blue New button, then select Properties.
- Find the formula you wish to edit in the list and select it. This will open the Edit property panel.
- Click on the Formula option to open the formula editor.
- With the cursor in the editor, select the existing formula by press
ctrl/cmd
+ a
, and then press delete
to remove the current version.
- Leave the formula editor open and come back to these instructions in your browser and find the formula you’re currently editing in the list below.
- After opening the formula’s page, hover over the code block with the new formula and click the
Copy
button that appears in the top right.
- Go back to your open copy of Ultimate Brain and paste the new formula in the editor. Press
ctrl/cmd
+ enter
or click outside of the editor to save the new formula.
Note: for Formulas that have an “order” number, make sure to add/upgrade them in said order. Formulas that don’t have an order set can be upgraded in any manner you’d like.
